Preface

Some people say that being objective is very much important since it allows you to treat things fairly and see things without any biases. Others believe that being objective enables a person to be reliable and credible when it comes to decision-making.

This idea makes me stop, think and ask myself, ‘Does objectivity really exist?’ Some might say ‘yes’, while others say ‘no’. The remaining few might simply shrug and say ‘maybe, and I don’t care.’

‘Have we finally come to an objective description of the world?’— This question raised by a German Physicist, Werner Heisenberg, had put me in a deep thought. Objectivity is indeed a very heavy word. It doesn’t just pertain to mere facts but the truth behind the facts. But who could draw the line between what’s objective and what’s not? Who could say that it is just a fact but not the truth?

We, human beings are subjective in our own way. We see things differently and believe things according to our perception. How we describe the world is not its real nature but it is how we choose to see and label it. We can’t see everything at once; therefore, what we are seeing is just a part of the whole thing. What we may see and think as truth is just part of the whole truth. And as for me, objectivity is a myth.

i like the your style of writing, not rushed, calm and ‘objective’ :) .
perhaps terms as objectivity, truth, equality, justice, etc can also be seen as ideals?
ideals were invented by man, basically, to make living with each other more bearable and different from the way animals live with each other, in other words, to have a more civilized society(don’t know if you believe it or not, but the concept of course exists that men evolved from apes, :) ).
if ideals, such as objectivity, are hard to reach, should we just then get rid of them? :)
i like your essay, clear and to the point. (mind you, i’m no expert, that’s just my non-objective view :) ).

First, I would like to thank you for reading my article and for appreciating my style. =)
I’m not good at this but at least I’m trying.. ;-)

About the concept of men evolving from apes, pardon me but I certainly don’t agree.. :-) But well you’re right, why don’t we just get rid of such thing as ‘óbjectivity’. It makes our lives complicated though it doesn’t exist anyway…
